A PRACTICAL GUIDE

Make a stylesheet easier to inspect

Formatting separates rules, declarations, and indentation so that a stylesheet is easier to review. Minification removes some presentation whitespace to produce a more compact output. Neither operation proves that the CSS is correct, and neither resolves an unwanted cascade or a browser compatibility issue.

How to use this tool

  1. Paste a working copy of your CSS and keep the original saved elsewhere. Review comments and unusual syntax before transforming it.
  2. Choose the formatting or minification action. Inspect the result, particularly custom properties and nested or newer CSS syntax.
  3. Copy the output into a separate file and compare the rendered page with the original before replacing production code.

Both versions describe the same small rule. Whitespace makes the declaration boundary easier to inspect. Keep a readable source file even when you distribute a minified asset through your production build.

Example to try in your project
/* Before */
.card{padding:16px;color:#0f172a}

/* Readable version */
.card {
  padding: 16px;
  color: #0f172a;
}

Before you ship

This browser utility is a convenience formatter, not a full build-system parser. Check values containing strings, URLs, comments, or complex functions before relying on transformed output.
