A PRACTICAL GUIDE

Build a form people can complete

A usable form starts with the information you actually need. A visual template provides fields and layout, but it does not send email, create an account, or store submissions. Those behaviors require your own endpoint or service and an appropriate privacy notice.

How to use this tool

  1. Select the fields and a layout that suits the task. Keep labels visible; placeholders are examples, not a substitute for field labels.
  2. Review spacing, input types, required fields, and mobile layout. Use autocomplete values that match the information requested.
  3. Copy the markup and styles. Connect submission handling and add understandable validation, error, and success messages.

The for and id values connect the label to the input. The name identifies the field in a submission, and the email type gives the browser a useful hint. This snippet still needs a surrounding form and submission handling.

Example to try in your project
<label for="contact-email">Email address</label>
<input id="contact-email" name="email" type="email"
       autocomplete="email" required>
<button type="submit">Send inquiry</button>

Before you ship

Client-side validation is not a security boundary. Validate data on your server, protect submissions appropriately, and collect only necessary information. Never publish a sample form that silently loses inquiries.
