<title> Tag

Sets the page title shown in the browser tab and search results.

1Writing Good Titles

Each page needs exactly one descriptive <title>. It is the single most important on-page SEO element and shows up in browser tabs, bookmarks, and Google results.

Example Code
css
<head>
  <title>Buy Sneakers — Free Shipping | Acme</title>
</head>

2Put the element in context

The title identifies the document in a browser tab and other page contexts. It should distinguish one page from another without becoming a list of unrelated keywords. A visible h1 introduces the page content; it does not replace the document title.

3Practice with a small page

Give two pages distinct, concise titles and corresponding visible headings. Open both in tabs and check that you can tell them apart. Avoid adding the same brand name several times when a shared site wrapper already appends it.
